We are less than one month from Easter, the holiest season on the Christian calendar. Simply put, it is like the Super Bowl for the church. In our congregation it truly is a season and not just a Sunday. Like always, Palm Sunday services start our our Holy Week schedule. A few years ago, we began a fellowship with our sister congregation Shepherd Street, Chickasha , Ok. which takes place the Wednesday of Holy Week.
The next day we have our Maundy Thursday program and fellowship meal. The following evening the Disciple Women will host the Good Friday services. All three nights service will begin at 7 pm.
The Sunday School department will present an Easter Program Easter morning and we will close out Holy Week with our 11 o'clock service.
We are always busy during the Easter Season, but it's a good busy, because our focus is on transformation and transcendence. The Easter story reminds us how our Lord Jesus of Nazareth became Jesus the Christ. And, that story shows us how our Lord transcended even death, because he loved us so.
Because he is our God, we too, have transformation and transcendence built into our spiritual DNA. Whether we find ourselves on the mountain or in the valley, we must not lose sight of the fact that we are on a journey. As long as we belong to a God of transformation and transcendence , we will never be left alone to languish because our God transforms the sorrow of Good Friday into the Unbridled Joy of Easter.
