We are praying for healing for Sister Vikki Walker and Sister Carmen.. Praying for the family of Billie Sanders, sister of Sheila Lemons Jones, who passed away recently. Praying for Rev. Paul Smith Sr., who is having health issues; he is the cousin to sister Paula and sister Jessye. Praying for all our members/relatives fighting cancer: Carla Burdine, Brittney Hadley, Gail Hadley, Josephine McCleary, mother to sister Kim Smith, and her sister Deborah McCleary; Lajuana Celestine,  pray for the  Cowen family.  Praying for those grieving, with the loss of friends and family.  Praying for all those with financial needs due to the economy,  furloughs, layoffs  or suffering from policy cuts to services. Praying for justice in our world.

WEEKLY ANNOUNCEMENTS  

There will be no Bible study this week (July 15). 

Join us in honoring the remarkable life of our beloved brother Anceo “Cheeko” Francisco, as we gather on Saturday, July 18 at 10 am at the church to celebrate his enduring legacy. 

Visitation will be Friday, July 17, 2026, from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Temple & Sons Funeral Directors, 2801 N. Kelley Ave. 

CANCELLED – In preparation of the home-going of our beloved Cheeko we have decided to cancel this year’s vacation Bible school. We invite you to still attend the carnival on Friday at Pitt Park and join us Sunday for our back-to-school kickoff sermon with Pastor Earl Burkhalter.

There are two dates for a memorial tribute for Eugene Reeves: Muskogee, July 11th at noon at Mount Calvary Baptist Church at 622 North 6th Street and Guthrie, July 19th at 4 p.m. at Community Church, 512 E. Seward Rd. There is no viewing at either location. Eugene wants you all to remember and celebrate his life and not focus on his departure.

Our graduate Jasmine Vick has a flyer in the fellowship Hall with her wish list for college. If you would like to help her reach her goal, please see the list and have the items mailed to the address indicated at he bottom of the flyer  or bring the gift to church. She plans to leave for Tuskegee August 10.   

Visionary Pathways School– Sister LaTonia Moore has started a school where students  can graduate with a  High School Diploma  and a clearly defined pathway to a trade or vocation (construction, manufacturing, technology and aerospace.) Please share this opportunity.

ESSCC Food Pantry

Sister  Tina and Sister Gloria are available after church each Sunday for anyone in need of food items. We are currently trying to restock we would appreciate ANY items you can contribute. We are in need of meats and frozen vegetables.

The Church Ministry Serving schedule and Upcoming Events flyers  for May , June and July are posted on the website.

The successful operation of our church is dependent upon all of us making plans to attend and participate, in all meetings, rehearsals and events. This will ensure that we, at East Sixth Street,  are giving God our very best effort.  Let’s prioritize Gods work in 2026 and teach our children to do the same.

Wednesday Night Bible Study takes place every Wednesday at 7pm. 

First Sunday Breakfast and T-shirt and Wednesday Night Bible Study Dinner  is provided on the 1st and 3rd Sunday  morning and Wednesday night ,  respectively. Thank you, Sister Rosa!

ESSCC Food Pantry

We are in  need of donations  to rebuild our pantry and freezer items. If you have non perishable items or freezer vegetables, please bring them and leave in the kitchen for sister Tina and Gloria . They will be available after church each Sunday for anyone in need of food items .  If you are aware of people in the community who may need help, have them reach out to sister  Tina so she can make arrangements  to meet them at the church.  Please pray for all of those in need during this difficult time. Thank you for any help you can give.

Disciple Women’s fellowship

Sister LaKeisha Lewis is our Chairperson and sister Kim Smith is our assistant Chairperson of ESSCC Disciples Women Fellowship. Sister Karrie Harris is our  treasurer and her assistant treasurer is Sister Sheila  Jones. Cynthia Clegg has agreed to be our DWF secretary .  Brittney  Houston and Michell Eike have agreed to be communication coordinators.

Children’ s Church

We have two group of children for Sunday Children’s Church. PreK- 3rd grade and 4th grade through 6th grade. (12 years and under)- we will not be working with toddlers at this time.   

We will continue to  be on Facebook Live. We are still needing  someone to volunteer to coordinate Zoom for  Wednesday Night Bible Study . See Pastor Jackson if you are interested.
